چکیده
ative to calving, and twice weekly postpartum. Plasma were analyzed for triglycerides (TG), total cholesterol, lipoprotein cholesterol and fatty acids. Changes in plasma lipid concentrations during the periparturient period were characterized for the first time. Plasma lipid concentrations were not affected by feeding rumen-protected choline. Cows fed SB beginning at 28 days prepartum had higher plasma TG, cholesterol, lipoprotein cholesterol, and fatty acid concentrations than cows fed the control diets during the prepartum period. By 14 days postpartum, cows fed SB beginning at parturition had similar plasma lipid concentrations as cows fed SB prepartum. If increased plasma lipid concentrations have reproductive advantages, feeding SB beginning 28 days prepartum as well as at parturition are equally effective in improving lipid balance during early lactation.

Transformation of Swine Pepsinogen into Swine Pepsin by Chicken Pepsin
Activation of swine pepsinogen with chicken pepsin results in the formation of swine pepsin. Activation of chicken pepsinogen with swine pepsin results in the formation of chicken pepsin. The structure responsible for the species specificity of the enzyme is therefore present in the inactive precursor.
متن کاملIxodid ticks associated with feral swine in Texas.
Ixodid ticks were collected from feral swine in eight Texas ecoregions from 2008-2011. Sixty-two percent of 806 feral swine were infested with one or more of the following species: Amblyomma americanum, A. cajennense, A. maculatum, Dermacentor albipictus, D. halli, D. variabilis, and Ixodes scapularis. Juvenile and adult feral swine of both sexes were found to serve as host to ixodid ticks. Lon...
متن کاملComparative response of swine and rats to high-fiber or high-protein diets.
Twenty-four growing swine and 24 growing rats were fed high-protein (34%) diets on an ad libitum basis to determine their effects on body weight, carcass characteristics, intestinal microbiological profile and visceral organ weights. High dietary fiber reduced body weight gain and gain:feed ratio in both swine and rats and decreased body fatness in swine; it increased relative kidney weight (pe...
متن کاملNovel Pestivirus Species in Pigs, Austria, 2015
A novel pestivirus species was discovered in a piglet-producing farm in Austria during virologic examinations of congenital tremor cases. The emergence of this novel pestivirus species, provisionally termed Linda virus, in domestic pigs may have implications for classical swine fever virus surveillance and porcine health management.
متن کاملRole of environment in the development of "natural" hemagglutinins in Minnesota miniature swine.
"Natural" hemagglutinin titers against a panel of fixed erythrocyte antigens were determined for groups of Minnesota miniature swine reared conventionally, in a specific pathogen-free facility, and in germfree isolators. Sera were assayed for hemagglutination (HA) titers by the microtiter method against 12 species of erythrocytes stabilized by treatment with pyruvic aldehyde and formaldehyde. T...
